Many fans are hopeful for Jim Carrey’s return as Robotnik in "Sonic the Hedgehog 4", and Jim himself has expressed interest. However, it all depends on the producers what story they have in mind. While the ending of Sonic 3 makes his return tricky, we saw similar doubts after Sonic 2, and there are still ways Jim could reprise his role.
At the end of Sonic 3, Robotnik appears to sacrifice himself to destroy the Eclipse Cannon, saying his goodbyes to the world and to his loyal Agent Stone.
