Believe it or Not - Back on track
18 Dec 2006 By Nicola West (Editor/Writer (UK))
Most of you will be relieved to know that Paramount Pictures has resurrected "Ripley's Believe It or Not," by hiring Steve Oedekerk, to re-work the script.
Jim and Tim Burton are both continuing to honour the project and both are said to approve of the new appointment. Oedekerk and Jim have a long collaborative history, beginning on "In Living Color," and Oedekerk wrote and directed "Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls" and scripted "Bruce Almighty."
"Ripley's" was allegedly postponed because od escalating costs and new ideas that necessitated a rewrite of the script, by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski. The newest re-write is said to be concentrating on the visual spectacle aspect, whilst still addressing the budget.
Paramount are hoping for a Winter 2008 shoot in China, with a 2009 release.
