To cast, or not to cast...
16 Nov 1998 JCO, UNITED STATES (by BCDavis) - Casting news for Jim Carrey just released to JCO from his publicist is sure to put to rest a number of casting rumors among Carreyholics.
The Web site "Ain’t It Cool News", known for its film production scoops, posted news that Jim Carrey was cast to star opposite Robin Williams in a film titled "The Defective Detective". Reaction to this news was mixed, even though a note was posted with the news piece to take it with a grain of salt. JCO, desiring to keep Carreyholics well informed, was told that Carrey is not cast for this film.
Another rumored bit of casting was picked up by other entertainment media sources. Word spread that Jim Carrey was cast for a leading role in the film adaptation of the Douglas Adams’ novel "The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy". Douglas Adams denied this in his official Web site. Carrey’s publicist also said that he is not cast for the adaptation.
A more debated casting issue among Carreyholics is whether or not Jim Carrey will reprise his role for a sequel to the hit New Line Cinema film, "The Mask", to have been titled "Revenge of the Mask". Speculation had been spread that Carrey would not be donning the green face and Zoot suit a second time. It has been confirmed that he will not.
