Jim Carrey wins People's Choice Awards
12 Jan 2001 The 27th Annual People's Choice Awards were held last Sunday, January 7 and Jim Carrey was chosen as this year's Favorite Motion Picture Star in a Comedy. Jim Carrey did not attend the ceremony but sent in a reel of hilarious outtakes from "The Grinch".
The People's Choice Awards nominations and winners are selected through nationwide polls conducted by the Gallup Corporation. This year's winners were chosen by a random sampling of 1200 Americans.
Nominations and awards on the acting categories are not given for specific roles, although the period covered by the poll was previous to "The Grinch" release, suggesting the public nominated Jim Carrey for his work in "Me, Myself & Irene".
