"Grinch" wonders "What Women Want"
18 Dec 2000 by S.A._JCFan
After 4 consecutive weeks at the top spot of the box office, "The Grinch" finally steps down from his throne. The Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt comedy, "What Women Want", raked in $34.4 million, becoming the new #1 movie. Taking the second spot is teen farce "Dude, Where's My Car?", which grossed $14 million.
Although "The Grinch" dropped 2 spots from last week, it fared much better than Disney's "The Emperor's New Groove". "The Grinch" takes in #13 million, making its total a jaw-dropping $212.9 million. Looks like passing the $250 mil mark is gonna be easy, especially since Christmas in only a week away.
Next week will be a tough competition. The Mean One goes up against Tom Hanks' "Castaway", Nicolas Cage's "Family Man", George Clooney's "O Brother, Where Art Thou?", "Dracula 2000", and Sandra Bullock's "Miss Congeniality".
