Paramount sets a date for "Sonic the Hedgehog 2"

Off the back of the success of the film "Sonic the Hedgehog", Paramount have just announced their plan to bring "Sonic the Hedgehog 2" to the big screen on April 8th 2022. The first film was one of the few box office success stories of 2020 and received strong reviews from critics and fans alike. A live-action, adventure comedy based on the global blockbuster video game franchise. The film follows the adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of Earth with his friend Tom and together they join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination. It's very early days for Sonic 2 but we can assume it will include some of the familiar characters, including Jim hopefully.
According to the NPD group the film was No. 1 on the 'Domestic top 10 list of combined DVD and Blu-ray sales' for June 2020, up from No. 2 in May. The result is unsurprising considering the video game adaptation topped the weekly disc sales charts for six consecutive weeks following its May 19 physical media release, including every week in June.
