Memorable Moment: Late Night with Conan O'Brien (2/13/04)
18 Oct 2011 By Lucas Allen (Web correspondent)
Jim Carrey appeared on 'Late Night with Conan O'Brien' during the show’s week long stint in Toronto in February of 2004. Jim’s there to promote his upcoming film "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" even though he didn’t show a clip from the movie.
Jim opens his appearance by singing a special duet with the host on his hometown. Afterwards, Jim shows off his Canadian entourage including an old man, a giant hockey puck, and a snowman. Then Jim tells Conan his favorite type of Canadian humor which is the kidding face. He explains that it’s when a person says something insulting to another and then uses a funny face to show that he’s kidding. Conan tries it out with Jim only to use Jim’s bald head as part of it.
(NOTE: Jim was bald when he’s wrapping up shooting "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events")
After the break, Conan mentions to Jim about the actor’s US citizenship much to the dismay of some of the Canadian audience. Then Conan brings out a guy to help Jim sign a paper to receive the passport. However, Jim rips the passport in anger and pushes the guy backstage. But then Jim asks the guy if he has the real passport to which the guy then gives it to him. Jim’s guest appearance ends with an encore of the duet song.
