"I Love You Phillip Morris" hits another wall
14 Apr 2010 By Nicola West (Editor/Writer (UK))
Delayed 3 times, Consolidated Pictures Group scheduled Jim Carrey's "I Love You Phillip Morris" in for a July 30 debut Stateside but now the US distribution company has reportedly lost the rights to release the film in North America.
The films financier, the Luc Besson-run EuropaCorp, has now removed the picture from CPG citing breach of contract and an unpaid $3 million guarantee on a promise of an $8 million marketing push. Newmarket Films is said to be in discussions with EuropaCorp to release the film this autumn.

CPG co-founder Timothy Patrick Cavanaugh denied that the fledgling company has lost the comedy.
"We're the distributors right now, we have a contract and we're asking Europa to deliver certain things," he told Deadline. "We've hired legal counsel, and if we need to go to arbitration, we will. We plan to distribute this film."
The plot thickens.....
