"Grinch" production delayed?
11 Sep 1999 As previously reported by JCO, "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" had its production set to start by the end of August, however, according to a bit sent to us by Maria looks like a new date is now being considered:
"According to Verne Troyer [Mini-Me] on a segment from Entertainment Tonight, he mentioned he recently had done some screen tests for 'The Grinch' and that production would begin in October."
Besides Verne Troyer, and of course Jim Carrey as the Grinch, the cast includes 5-year-old Taylor Mumson as Cindy Lou Who, Mindy Sterling as Biddy No. 1, Christine Baranski as Martha Who-ert, wife of the mayor of Whoville (Jeffrey Tambor) and Bill Irwin as Lou Lou Who, husband of Betty Lou Who (Molly Shannon). Other townspeople of Whoville will be played by Lacey Kohl, Walter Franks and Suzanne Krull.
The movie is being directed by Ron Howard, based on an adaptation of the famous Dr. Seuss' book by writers Peter Seaman and Jeffrey Price. Makeup genius Rick Baker, takes on the tough job of bringing to real life the unusual-looking characters of Dr. Seuss' world.
