Some Praise for Earth Girls Are Easy

Postby KC8t80 » Wed Jan 25, 2006 5:21 am

I finally got to watch this film and to me it is by far the best film he has done in the 80s.......him, Damon Wayans and Jeff Goldblum were so great together and it really captured some the cool aspects of the 80s. I also thought Jim looked great as a blond and is it me or does Damon Wayans have elf ears???? just curious. I really hope the three of them will work together again or see Jim work with Jeff again.

Also, despite what the movie title says.....earth girls are NOT easy....and i speak from experience....but the women from Venus are easy to impress!!!!

"Earth girls are easy" is a fantastic movie in many ways. especially because of the eighties-felling in the whole movie. On the second place comes "Once Btitten". That is is a funny "vampirecomedy".

I really love the dancing scene in "Once Bitten" and a little scene where Jim Carrey is doing a Robert De Niro-impression.

Well, I like those exentrick roles Jeff Goldblum plays in 'The Life Aquatic' and 'Igby goes Down' and I totally dig his part in Jurassic Park (the first). And for a million reasons I love Jim Carrey his work. But Earth Girls are Easy was suprisingly wrong. I think the movie kinda sucks. Yeah, there is that '80s feeling, but guess what, it's an '80's film, it's just logical. Nope, unfunny, bad writing and simply dumb. I dislike the movie.

Earlier in my life I thought Jeff Goldblum were the next best actor after Jim Carrey because of his performance in movies like "The Fly", "Jurassic Park", "Independence Day", "The Tall Guy" and "Into the night". But i have change my mind. Now it is Ewan McGregor and Johnny Depp.

Nope, just the fact I have a problem with both actors. You see, there we are you had me started. :D

About Ewan McGregor. I think it's an actor that's hard to cast. What do I mean by that? I think he was miscast in 'Big Fish'. Ewan is not the -as we call it- good old american boy, but the role was. I was not able to believe him. I didn't believe him in 'Moulin Rouge' and even think he never should have been in (sucky) 'The Island'. I'm not saying it's a bad actor. I'm just saying it's hard to find a perfect role for Ewan. It's sooo often hard to believe him. I guess 'Down with Love' did just fine and the way he wasn't all that serious as Obi-Wan Kenobi was lovely. You realy could smell he had fun saying all those stiff dialogues, he did it with a wink. (Like Harrison Ford had in the old trilogy). I think the only role I believed McGregor every minute of the movie was Trainspotting. Perfect for him.

About Johnny Depp. I like him. But I think it's a shame we dailyget smacked by that name since 'Jack Sparrow'. After Pirates the hype around Depp started and didn't stop. An Oscar nomination for Jack Sparrow?! C'mon! What where they thinkin'? I thought even Neverland didn't realy deserved the nomination, because of the fact Depp's character was not developing at all. In the end we had the same Depp as in the first five minutes, he did it very, very, very well, but that's not a role where we can shout 'Oscar'! I think Depp did things that deserved a nomination, but that was before Pirates. Now everyone is focussed on Depp, screaming how great he is. Yeah, we all knew that 10 years ago people. There are rumor's about Depp being nominated again for 'Wonka'. I think that Depp was a kinda fun, but it wasn't the Wonka from the books at all. Not a big point, he created his own Wonka, but after a half hour, you realy knew him and he wasn't able to suprise all over again. He was a bit predictable imo. Fine actor, just hate the hype.

So, please don't take this personal. :) I just wanted to ... in dutch we would say 'lose my egg'. :D
