Discuss older Jim Carrey movies.

In Dumb and Dumber, at the diner, Llyod says to the waitress,
"Excuse me, Flo? Flo like the TV show."
I might sound sort of stupid but I just wanted to ask, what TV show was he referring to? I didn't get the joke...... can anyone help me out?

The name of the show was Alice. It was on in the 70's. Flo was a waitress who always said "Kiss my grits!".
She is the one with the really large hairdo.

Cotton! I just got warm, fuzzy childhood memories.
That was a good show. I hope no one else thinks it was crap. Because I LOVED that show...right down to the goofy-lookin son.

I liked that show too.
Plz do feel free to sing this with your scottish accent, Quirky.
"Early to rise, early to bed. In and between I cooked and cleaned and went out of my head. Going through life with blinders on, it's tough to see. I had to get up, get out from under and look for me. There's a new girl in town and she's looking good. There's a fresh freckled face, in the neighborhoood. There's a new girl in town, with a brand new style. She was just passing through, but if things work out she's gonna stay awhile....Bruce Almighty Bruce Almighty bum bum bummmm"

Man...those lyrics didn't seem as cheesy 25 years ago as they do now.
But thanks Cotton!
Edited because I said 20 years and then I realized I'm REALLY old!

I hate to break this to you Quirky but those lyrics are 29 years old. The show started in 1976. Which means you were a wee 6 year old Quirkette when it first started. I am about the same age so I was a wee 6 year old Cottonette then. Cottonette???? Sounds like toilet paper doesn't it?lol

I was six once?
Cottonette does sound like toilet paper, Quirkette sounds like some kind of French hors d'hoeurve. ( I can never spell that word right and I'm too tired to go to dictionary.com) At least your screen name isn't "Charmine".

Nuh - uh. It's not about what the Charmine wants, it's all about Mr. Whipple ... and he always kind of skeeved me out because he was so authoritarian about the stupid TP.

Mr Whipple was obsessed with the tp. Imagine being at work all day and worrying the whole time that people were squeezing it? He was constantly watching that tp aisle wasn't he? And when nobody was looking what was he doing? Squeezing it! Stupid commercials.lol
Jim can squeeze me all he wants tho. I won't tell him no.
Altho I may be cottony like toilet paper but I am not an ass wipe I swear.lol

He MUST have owned the store. Because any employee THAT obsessed with TP and menacing towards the customers would have been sacked.
And he spent so much time in the toilet paper aisle, I'll bet people shoplifted him into the poor house.
And he deserved it, because he was an authoritarian hypocrite.
