Two-time Golden Globe winner Jim Carrey, Keanu Reeves, Suki Waterhouse and Diego Luna are set to join Jason Momoa in Ana Lily Amirpour’s cannibal love story “The Bad Batch,” TheWrap has learned.
Megan Ellison‘s Annapurna Pictures has partnered with VICE on the dystopian picture.
A post-apocalyptic tale set in a Texas wasteland where a community of cannibals reside, “The Bad Batch” is described as a love story about a cannibal known as Miami Man (Momoa) and his food.
Waterhouse has landed the female lead of Arlen, while Luna will play Jimmy. Reeves will play The Dream and Carrey will play The Hermit.
Carrey’s role is expected to be yet another departure for the versatile actor, who once won back-to-back Golden Globes for best actor in a drama (“The Truman Show”) and a comedy/musical (“Man on the Moon”).
“The Bad Batch” marks the first time Vice will be a producing partner alongside Annapurna, after first working on marketing for several of the company’s releases, including “Spring Breakers,” “The Grandmaster” and “Her.”

Saw this breaking news yesterday and didn't know what to think. For me this is the most unexpected Jim Carrey project ever. From the combination of the cast to the director and the (early version) of the story ...

Yet, when I see the intrugin trailer for "A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night", I want to see the result right now. And this is something I want him to do for a long time now.

I guess this is more interesting for Jim Carrey the actor than Jim Carrey the box-office star. Much like "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind". Thumbs up. Only thing that bothers me : Jason Momoa, he was terrible in everything I saw him in.

Looking forward to know more.

I read about the new movie, before yall knew about it. It's great that Dr. Carrey has decided to do the movie. I read it's gonna be a horror flick. I wonder if it's gonna be dramatic horror or a comedic horror.
I hope it's a dramatic horror, because I would like to see Dr. Carrey do more dramatic roles.

I read that "The Bad Batch" is gonna be pretty violent, you think Dr. Jim Carrey will go around and promote it. But it's also great that Dr. Carrey agreed to do the movie. I'm also glad that it's gonna be a horror/drama. I still would Jim Carrey do more dramas.

Seems like Jim Carrey's role is kinda small. But we will see. Could be very interesting to get a look in the script the director is showing here when the movie was announced in January.

Sounds like something new, different and interesting for Jim Carrey to do. I hope that it´s not a small role like in Kick-Ass 2 or The Incredible Wonderstone. If you don´t count Dumb and Dumber To there have not been so much big roles for Jim the last years.

Well, i personally think Keanu’s role will be small, not only because of the name of his character - ”The Dream”, but he will star in the Nicolas Winding Refn’s The Neon Demon which will begin shooting on March 30, so...
I think Jim will be in the movie for about 20 minutes. But this is just my guess.

About the release date, i read on The Tracking Board.com that this is an independent (indie) film, so, maybe next year in January at the Sundance Film Festival ? I think there’s a possibility, to be honest.
