Jim choosing his roles

Postby Nano75 » Wed Aug 04, 2004 12:46 pm

Did you ever think about this... Jim once said about a well-known actor who often plays psycho roles and bad guys (forgot who it was) that this guy must be crazy by now and dead inside. He couldn't do it because he's always so much IN his role or even IS his role. Do you think he chooses his roles considering this, too? How "good" it is for his soul? Just came to my mind... On the other hand - Count Olaf... hm. :?:

well i think Jim chooses his roles which he enjoys doing. he also chooses his role according to his personality. he also chooses roles through which he could potray himself as a person which he actually is in real life; also through which he tires to give some message to certain people. for eg, the character of "joel" in "ESOTSM"; he said in his interview that "this movie is a luv letter to all those whom i had luved before."

bottom line is, Jim loves a good story, and he loves to tell a good story. Choosing a role in a great story is probably easy for him. I don't think he really cares about which role it is, as long as it tells a good story.

I think thats why he doesn't like doing the same role over and over, because its the same thing, he needs something different every time to keep his mind sane.

What were his reasonsr doing The Cable Guy then??? I mean, it was a good film, but nothing like Jim at all!!!

Maybe it's cos he (well he must do) gets stalking fans and stuff and he knows what it's like???

Just an idea....

He as Ace and Lloyd Christmas is a typical Jim!

The Cable Guy

I think that one of his reasons for doing the Cable Guy is he likes to do darker comedies too. Doing dark comedy was part of how he reinvented himself after he stopped doing impressions in the '80's.

Good point asiebarth but I disagree I don't think Jim does like playing characters in dark comedies I think he'll just play any role he wants, but can separate himself from the character because what can we say he is a pro. Even Jim doesn't know his own ability. AHHHHHHHHHHHHh yes once agin count Olaf shows his superior Jim knowledge! lololololololollo just kiddin :D
