OK, Favorite Jim Carrey movie and WHY!

Postby andyhut » Thu Apr 04, 2002 2:35 am

Just thought this topic could start some good conversations/debates! As for my two cents, it's a toss-up between The Majestic and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.

The Majestic just had such an incredibly awesome feel to it. I felt myself become completely enveloped in the world of Pete's struggle and enjoyed every moment of it. So much so that I had to see it more than once (3 times in the theaters, countless coming at home). I thought the acting was beautiful on the parts of practically everyone involved in the film, especially Jim. I thought he'd already done a bang-up job in the drama dept. in Man on the Moon, but he totally out-did himself in The Majestic. He (along with Landau) actually made me cry, which, you can take it from me, is a very large accomplishment. I thought it also had a beautiful story that made you care about every single character from that town. I read many critics reviews, most of which as usual poo-pooed practically everything I loved about the movie (I don't know why I bother to read those things!) and that only made me like it more (it's always fun to read what the jealous people who wanted to get into movies but had to settle with judging them have to say).

Then there's Ace, which is the movie that introduced me to the wonder of Jim Carrey. The character is great, the facial expressions, the lines, the attitude. I spent a good three years pretending to be that character! The story is hilariously stupid (which is just my kind of movie) and to this day I can watch it over and over again and still laugh away. The replay value on that film is astounding. I also loved Tone Loc and Dan Marino in that movie, they made me laugh... almost as much as Jim.

Basically, Ace was my favorite movie (overall, not just of Carrey's) from the very first time I watched it. The fact that The Majestic is even battling with it as my favorite says a lot about his most recent project. Either way, I could happily call it a tie and sit back and enjoy watching both movies over and over again all day long, forever!

I haven't seen The Majestic yet. I do know the story but I did not see it with my own eyes. I hope that I will see it SOON!
Ace Ventura is an incredible movie. It is very hilarious and I like it a lot. I don't have a favorite JC movie because I like them all. All of his movies are special. All of them have something... Something interesting, funny and magical.
All of them captivated me in one way or another.

PS: Who knows when it will be The Majestic in Romania (EU)??????????????????????????

I know, we all love all of Jim's movies. I do too! I'm asking you to step out of that broad box and think about which one tickles your funny bone the most or which is most moving to you (depending on if it's a comedy or drama). I know it's hard to pick just one (heck, I couldn't even do it!) but give it a whirl, huh?

All of them are good.
What about Bruce Almighty??? Is it going to be good?? I belive so. For me it doesn't matter the movie. The important thing is for Jim Carrey to act in it!!

I'm the next one who totally agrees that you just CAN'T decide!! Jim makes every film special just by being in it, showing his brilliant talent and spreading his one and only charisma.
But he did so different kind of movies that I can say it depends on my mood which of his films I prefer to watch then.

? ?
Nadine
