Happy Birthday Stephen Hawking

Postby TNPihl » Sun Jan 08, 2012 10:36 pm

Happy Birthday to Professor Stephen Hawking, who today celebrates his 70th birthday!

Hawking made a surprise appearance in the spring of 2003 on 'Late Night with Conan O'Brian'. Jim Carrey asked him if he would take part in a comedy sketch for the show. Hawking accepted and taped webcam footage. On the show, Carrey began discussing cosmology, and on cue Hawking called him on a cellphone, admonishing Carrey not to bother because "their pea brains cannot possible grasp the concept." He soon after excused himself, saying that he had to go because he was watching Carrey's movie "Dumb and Dumber", and "marveling at the pure genius of it." Hawking later hosted Jim at his home in Cambridge.

As much as I dislike Hawking for sort of bashing my religion, I still wish him a happy birthday :)

He has the right to his opinion.
Even Einstein had a hard time with any set religion
We are all connected in some way,
someday we will all know the where's and why for's.
We achieve patience with faith that there is a higher intelligence
and that that knowledge is already known and understands the big picture.

i have always had an innate feeling that everything will be fine........sometimes it's better not to delve too deeply into questions with no empirical truth.....sometimes ignorance IS bliss.....lol

Agreed,
and perhaps it's so complicated
you think "I just can't fathom this"
That's probably why Jesus spoke in
parables, easy and simple.
But if you want the underlying
information you have to dig.
And work hard to find the answer.
Everyone's brain is at a different level.
We are not all the same and really that
is a good thing.
Variety is the spice of life.
