I don't have any advice for him.

I would ask him how he choses to live through negativity
And depending on what he says thats when I will give him the advice

I am curious if he believes in a perfect life and I feel the same curiousity about a lot of people in my life

not so much a handshake.....more a handsqueeze for re-assurance and support.....and cuddles can get you through a lot of troubles......so if he didn't mind being cuddled (some folk don't like being held) i'd welcome him with open arms......
